A Kolkata woman has launched a project to provide employment to poverty-ridden women.
Apartna Banerjee's Project Sukanya is essentially a chain of stores managed by women, selling wares made by them.
The mobile outlets are called 'Bou Carts' (daughter-in-law's carts) and are visible at key points in the city.
Women self-help groups in Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum and Burdwan Districts make products like terracotta sculptures, packaged spices and small gift items.
Activities
* Research on creating awareness of self help skill to the women of urban areas and all in rural areas
* Extend Marketing support
* Support the Entrepreneurs with Financial assistance of Nationalized Banks
* Manufacture the Counter on wheel for sale (BOU)
* Purchase products from the small scale entrepreneurs
* Carry on Quality Test of the samples
* Buy such products those are passed through quality test
* Give proper and genuine price to the entrepreneurs
* Sale at a genuine rate with minimum margin so that people across India can have genuine products at reasonable cost at their door steps
* Sincere effort in building largest retail chain in India
* Support the entrepreneurs those who sale the products
* Extend employment to those who will be involved in the entire process across India.

| The Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN) is a coalition uniting Indian youth and Indian youth oriented organisations who are concerned about climate change. We, as the future leaders of the country can generate awareness and establish consensus on what role India should play in the global debate, and how it should address domestic issues of climate justice and adaptation. It is a monumental effort but one with immense potential. IYCN works on three levels: |

Since its inception the network has seen massive growth, starting from 3 people and today its reach spanning out hundreds and thousands of Indians all over the world. In its short period of existence, it has generated a lot excitement from youth and adults at the grassroots and is now present in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujurat, Haryana, Rajasthan, Goa, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh and are quickly moving into other regions of India. |
