Shraddha Charitable Trust endeavours to give their young autistic adults an avenue to explore what they can truly be.
We, at Shraddha, mainly focus on rehabilitation and training programmes for young adults with autism.
Our trust is dedicated to empower these adults with special skills to create various ecofriendly and artistic articles and handicrafts.
These creations from the hands of autistic adults are ideal for corporate gifts, festive decorations and gifting for occasions. Our aim is to give them specialized training through dedicated staff and caring volunteers. People with autism do not ask for sympathy but they do seek an opportunity to be independent.

Plastic bags - plastic bag crochet , rag pickers and alternative skills for a better world
Creations from discarded plastic by Cristen .
Plastic Bag Hats
sun wall hanging
Plastic Hats
plastic shopping bags
The plan is to study the plastic bag problem in India, to find groups of people interested in learning how to crochet with plastic bags, and to turn the plastic bag crochet idea into a larger project (one that involves creating an online site for selling Indian made recycled plastic bag items and sending the money back to these communities). I will also be highlighting any Indian organizations and community groups aimed at recycling plastic or promoting self sufficiency through the sale of local handicrafts.
Do you know of any community groups I should interview while I’m there? Do you live/work in India and want to organize a plastic bag workshop with me? Have you started a similar project in another part of the world? I’d love to hear from you! Please contact me and let me know your thoughts!

After a six week program of painting classes for the 30 girls of Sharanam Centre - Dharavi, SAYITINCOLOR / Art Caravan are honoured to present their watercolours on the theme - Illustrations of Snow White’s tale. During the program, the girls were able to easily identify with the protagonist, and were able to express their buried emotions on paper under the art therapist’s supervision.

SAYINITCOLOR
Life in a city like Mumbai can get busy. Our lives are vicious circles of working harder and harder so that we can have material pleasures and yet no time to enjoy those pleasures. There is a need to let out our bottled emotions and relax. What better way than doing this through art! This is why SAYITINCOLOR commits itself to help us reveal our inner-selves through innovative artistic tools and cross-cultural techniques.
SAYITINCOLOR is an organisation whose mission is to nurture creativity through art and cultural engagement with a two-pronged approach:
1) The Art Loft: a unique cultural hub in Mumbai
2) The Art Caravan: a wandering artistic experience

SENATE (Social Engineering and Advanced Technical Education) - kolkata
I am associated with an NGO called SENATE (Social Engineering and Advanced Technical Education).
SENATE is an organisation based in Kolkata working across almost all the districts of West Bengal along with the different departments of Government of West Bengal. Our recent area of work is in two districts of the Sunderban Islands. The economy in this region is currently very vulnerable in the aftermath of the devastating Cyclone Aila (May 2009) which had destroyed all the farmland and has had severe long run impact on the fertility of the land. This region also does not have any electricity.
We at SENATE are currently involved in giving training to the Women in this region through Self Help Groups to make them into entrepreneurs and have alternative livelihood options on a long term and sustainable basis. We have trained them and still training in different islands of Sunderbans in making newspaper and hand made paper bags, folders involving NIFT designers as trainers to keep the products equipped with contemporary design and form. We are now trying to create market links for them with various retail chains and major commercial houses as well as exploring the international market.
I am also attaching pictures of the product and a catalogue. We are looking forward to mobilize the products through different channels and outlets.
